Michele Holden (She/Her)

Michele joined Birthways in 2021 as a Labor Support and Postpartum Doula. She has a long history (almost 20 years!) of supporting families through birth and the postpartum period. After working as a nanny for a couple of years, Michele has joined Birthways to focus on what she loves – working with new families.

Michele has a passion for learning and never turns down an opportunity to take the latest training or attend a new seminar. Her expertise includes birth doula, breastfeeding peer counselor, and postpartum doula.

In the birth room, Michele brings a calm presence, the latest evidence-based information, and a lot of experience. When asked how many births that she has attended she modestly let us know that she lost track after 127 but knows that it has been at least 150!

In her own words:

“My favorite part of being a doula is helping families find their way in the world. To watch the love and confidence bloom is such a blessing.”

What Clients Say

“She’s wonderful! Smart, trained, caring, wise, patient.”

“She was a real godsend. Very hands-on with our baby but also with our older daughter. Very responsive to whatever we needed. Took her own initiative in a really helpful way. Our baby had a cold in the first few weeks and Michele had all kinds of holistic remedies. I even have a memory of her standing over steam with peppermint to open her nostrils. We got to her, her family a little bit, and her daughter Katherine. After the postpartum period we used her as a sitter and even a few years after that when we had to leave the country for a couple of weeks, she took care of the kids for us.”

“Michele was a Godsend! She flexed with whatever capacity we needed – whether it was general care with the newborn or J’s crisis or my husband’s reaction to it all. She has gentleness and tact and is still in our lives. She really knew how to step forward in a domestic way or to step back and let me do it. She did it all with compassion and understanding.”

“Michele really genuinely cares about them, tries to keep them engaged. Willing to help with homeschooling during COVID.”
