Lactation Consultation - Telehealth

Telehealth/Virtual Lactation Consultation & Health Insurance:

Birthways is not able to bill any insurance directly nor can we tell you what your individual coverage is for virtual consultations – you would need to speak with your insurance provider directly.

For those paying out of pocket, we can provide a receipt and superbill for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, should you chose to do so.

You may be eligible for 3 Free Telehealth Consultations, as Birthways partners with The Lactation Network. If you have one of the following plans, then you are likely eligible for 3 consultations for at no cost to you.

  • Anthem BCBS PPO
  • Cigna PPO
  • United Health Care PPO

*There are exceptions even within these plans and The Lactation Network will find out if you are covered. Other carriers are being worked on as well.

If you would like to see if you are covered through The Lactation Network, then please complete this form as soon as possible – this can be done during pregnancy!

Birthways will receive verification from The Lactation Network and then can schedule your first consultation, typically with 1-2 business days.

Telehealth Lactation Consultations include:

  • Intake and review of your medical and lactation history
  • Assessment and examination of you & baby
  • Observation of a feeding session
  • Recommendations for breastfeeding supplies
  • Email summary of visit
  • Receipt & Superbill for insurance reimbursement
  • Additional 30 minutes of support via phone/text/email as followup
