Maia Díaz (she/her)
As an aspiring performing artist in NYC following college, Maia made her living for several years as a nanny for what eventually became 3 beautiful girls, helping to raise them from birth until the eldest was 8 years old, the youngest 2. During this time she discovered a love of infant care and passion for child rearing, and witnessed first hand the profound physical, mental and emotional changes that take place for the mother and family during the postpartum period. Those magical years led her to pursue a career in labor support, postpartum and childcare. Her experience giving birth to her own daughter in late 2022 only intensified her passion, and she feels a profound connection to, respect for, and obligation to support all birthing people every step of their journey.
Maia’s first love since childhood was singing! Both her father and husband are musicians, and though she no longer does so professionally, music and singing are still a huge part of her everyday life. Maia believes that there is music to be found in everything, including childbirth, as we tap into the rhythms, motions and sounds of contractions. Aside from music, currently Maia’s biggest passion (outside of her career) is her new role as mother.
Becoming a mother has been the greatest gift and proudest achievement of Maia’s life, and has lit an even greater fire within her to continue supporting others as they step into parenthood.
My passion for labor support comes from a place of absolute wonderment and awe at what our bodies are capable of, and my belief that pregnancy and childbirth can and should be an incredibly empowering experience. Whether via c-section, induction, medicated, unmedicated, no two birthing experiences will be exactly the same, and at the end of the day, to help bring babies into the world and empower birthing people to do so confidently is both a privilege and an honor.
“Maia has the institutional knowledge which meets her practical experience. She is grounded in her ability to share that information as a guide and resource. She is so passionate about this subject of birthing and parenting and sharing about it!” -Matthew F.
“She has great vibes, energy, presence, and is a caring, good person. Maia is able to prioritize in a high stress environment, is always on time and reliable and mature. I can’t think of anyone more suited to live a work of compassion and caring for others.” -Rebecca F.
