Chanel Washington

Chanel (she/her) was a doula even before it had a name in her world. She loves what she does meeting so many families with many different backgrounds, learning from each one! Intuitively knowing what steps she needed to take to begin her work as a doula and midwife at a young age, she has taken on over 400 births within these past five years and has just finished her first year as a Midwife student.

As she deepens her calling in this work, Chanel strives to learn more about being a better advocate for all her clients. Chanel works to strengthen BIPOC communities in their bodies and births. She sees an invitation for knowledge and unlearning during this time of birthing, and as a provider intends to break traditions/norms and continue to ask thought provoking questions, teaching clients they have a right to stand up for themselves, or someone else whose too afraid to speak.

She is sincere in taking accountability as a birth worker, for herself and her clients, to build stronger more unified communities Chanel was blessed to have a surreal empowered home-birth experience with her midwife, labor doula, two birth assistants, and a postpartum doula that fired up her love for Doula work. Chanel understands the importance of unconditional support and encouragement during what could be lonely, emotional, and scary time and teaming with the right energies and professionals for you and your baby makes all the difference.

I love to help. It’s simple or cliché, but I have a natural desire to help. I love to hold space for others, and I’m thankful to the ones who held space for me. We all need love and kindness to spread to others. I’m beyond grateful my calling was simply to be of service to others.

Testimonials

“The mental and emotional support I received during, before, and after birth were more than she guaranteed and truly made my time with her unforgettable.”-R Nails

“I didn’t know what to expect but Chanel made sure I felt safe, and she answered any questions I had. We walked together, she brought a yoga ball and we did exercises to help start labor. During labor at the hospital she stayed with me the entire time, as my husband came back and forth to be with our toddler at home. During labor she helped me get as much comfort as i possibly could. She really knows her stuff. I’m so happy I connected with her. -J.Martin
