We are happy you’re here and that your employer understands how important it is to be supported when you have your baby! Employers are increasingly providing benefits through Carrot for fertility and family-forming support.

What requirements does my doula have to meet to be eligible?

  • Certified and trained
  • Complete periodic certification renewals and/or continuing education to stay up-to-date on the latest developments for doulas
  • Has attended at least 24 hours of evidence-informed training in one or more of the following areas
    •  Physiology of labor, labor doula training, antepartum doula training, postpartum doula training, or bereavement training
  • At least 18 years of age
  • In the past 3 years, has spent a minimum of 15 hours providing doula services in one or more of the following areas:
    • Labor Doula: Continuous labor support for at least three childbirths (including two vaginal births) as the primary doula supporting the birthing parent, as well as antepartum and postpartum support for at least one birth
    • Postpartum Doula: Postpartum support following at least three childbirths
    • Bereavement Doula: Bereavement support for at least three pregnancy losses
  • Does not work through an on-call rotation, and intends to be the primary doula assigned to support the client

And yes! Birthways has you covered!  We would love to get you introduced to a qualifying provider.

Okay, I’m on board. How do I get started?

To get started, sign up for a 1:1 with Birthways’ intake specialist, and complete the Care Request Form. We have a place within the form where you can specify that you will be using Carrot or other benefits.  You may have more than one payer.  We’ll work with you to optimize your benefits.

Once we have gotten to know you and your care needs, we match you with a doula to interview and take care of the documentation you’ll need for reimbursement.

Birthways’ care model is rooted in mindfulness, non-judgement, and compassion. We would love to support you throughout your birthing and parenting journey!
