Marie Renaud
Marie (she/her) has a professional background centered around a holistic approach to reproductive health, environmental health and the transformative power of nature. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Somatic Counseling with a focus on nature-based counseling, and having recently completed her Master’s in Public Health.
From Marie’s work as a sexual health educator in Chicago Public Schools, to her experience working on small vegetable farms, she has cultivated a profound appreciation for community health, health sovereignty and the healing potential of nature.
Integrating this passion into her doula practice, Marie brings a diverse array of skills, including her experiences as a freelance photographer, case manager and environmental educator. She is excited to offer comprehensive support to empower new parents on their unique journeys to parenthood, drawing on the wisdom of somatic counseling and nature-based healing.
Marie finds joy and connection through a commitment to embodiment via practices like hiking, dancing, and laughing. Her practice align with her belief in the healing power of being present in one’s body. She loves gardening and herbalism, incorporating these passions into her doula work. She is a photographer and writer, driven by a passion for storytelling. These diverse interests and practices collectively fuel
her calling as a doula, instilling in her a profound curiosity of the multifaceted nature of the human experience and the importance of weaving narratives in the beautiful tapestry of birth and parenthood.
Marie’s intention in this work as a doula is to be a guiding light for new parents navigating the transformative journey of parenthood. Her overarching goal is to help parents become more connected to their bodies, innate intuition, and parenting instincts, while fostering a sense of empowerment and confidence in their abilities.

- Researched women’s health topics and helped create curricula for Women’s Health education programs
- Conducted contraception outreach and education with patients who have recently given birth or had abortions
- Contacted patients for social determinants of health outreach to connect them to needed resources in the community
- Researched community resources that Erie patients could utilize and benefit from to overcome barriers to health
- Helped patients enroll in IL Medicaid programs and Erie’s Sliding Fee Scale program
