Birthways Virtual Services

Virtual support from our expert doulas and educators is just a phone call or a click away!
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Birthways has expanded the ways in which we can reach expectant and new parents to provide impactful support. We are still providing in-home services, following best practices at all times.

Virtual support is something you may not have thought about previously, but we’ve figured it out! And our clients have already let us know what a difference it’s made for their family during these challenging times.

Please reach out with questions or to take the next steps in organizing support.

Live outside of the Chicagoland area? Virtual support from our expert doulas and educators is just a phone call or a click away!

All Virtual Postpartum Packages are based on Daily Consultations

Here is what happens in a Daily Consultation:

  • First consult available within 24 hours of birth
  • Your doula will set a Daily Consultation time with you to connect by webcall or phone. Calls will typically be scheduled between 6am – 10pm, with your time slot being reserved for you. Your doula will also be flexible and adjust with you.
  • This is your opportunity for daily connection and support with any questions or concerns that arise for all New Parents, such as:
    • Is this normal for my baby to…?
    • Is this normal for my body to…?
    • What is my baby telling me? Reading your baby’s cues – hungry? sleepy? need a diaper change?
    • Support with all feeding strategies:
      • Breast/chestfeeding positions, supply, comfort
      • Pumping
      • Bottle feeding
      • Breastmilk and/or formula
      • Combination strategies
      • When to talk with an IBCLC
    • Partners – how are you doing?
    • Sibling Adjustment
    • Diapering: disposable or cloth
    • Baby wearing
    • Baby gear
    • Emotional Wellbeing and Perinatal Mood Support

A Daily Consultation also include a Consultation Email to summarize your conversation, including what questions/concerns were addressed as well as additional resources when appropriate. As a busy, new parent we know you may not be able to take it all in, so we’ll make sure you don’t have to worry about trying to remember everything!

*And when more immediate or ongoing support is needed, additional time with your doula can be arranged beyond your Daily Consultation.
